Protesters condemned violence against women

“Let us stop violence against women together”- non-governmental organizations and students unified under this slogan on November 25. The protest demonstration took place in the city center, in front of Meskhishvili Theatre; petition to the Prime Minister and Chairman of Parliament was signed during the demonstration.

"The petition presents mechanisms for the eradication of violence against women; it states that situation in the field is extremely urgent in Georgia and the state, relevant governmental institutions must work hard to improve the situation,” the participants said. CSO representatives, students and ordinary citizens took part in the demonstration. 

Before the demonstration, Kutaisi office of the Georgian Young Lawyers’ Association organized a round table about the issue. As for the petition, the signatures are to be collected after what it will be sent to the political leaders of the country.
