Relatives of life-sentenced prisoners held a protest rally

Shorena Kakabadze, Kutaisi

In Kutaisi relatives of the life-sentenced prisoners held protest rally in front of the parliament. They request to review cases of the prisoner and to reduce their sentences.

“We request review of their cases and reduction of their sentences. As you know, they have been on hunger strike for 25 days and no one knows how their protest will finish. Moreover, their health conditions are poor,” relatives of the prisoners said.

Human rights defender Tamaz Bakuridze attended the protest rally; he reminded the MPs of their pre-election promises and called on the legislative body to review cases of the prisoners.

The protesters say it was warning rally and if the government ignores their request they will use more severe forms of protest.
