Human Rights Center Requests Chief Prosecutor’s Office to Start Investigation about a Message to A. Elisashvili Sent from MP M. Kobakhidze’s Facebook

January 28, 2016

Human Rights Center addresses to the Chief Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia and requests to start investigation about a message, which was sent to Aleko Elisashvili, former chairman of the Pardon Commission, from the Facebook page of Vice Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia Manana Kobakhidze Manana Archil Kobakhidze.

Human Rights Center is concerned with the fact that the author of the message (presumably MP Manana Kobakhidze) is informed about the content of the dialogue between Aleko Elisashvili and convicted Anastasia Zautashvili or about the audio-recording of their conversation. The message contains signs of intimidation and threat that shall be impartially and effectively investigated.

In addition to that, Human Rights Center clarifies that on January 14, 2016 convicted Anastasia Zautashvili, serving her term in Penitentiary Establishment # 5, called in the office of Human Rights Center who talked with the lawyer of Aleko Elisashvili and head of the Legal Aid Service at the Center Tamar Avaliani. Anastasia Zautashvili categorically requested meeting with Aleko Elisashvili. On January 13, Anastasia Zautashvili called another lawyer of Human Rights Center Tamar Lukava and also categorically requested meeting with Elisashvili.
