Underage Detainee Was Released from Tskhinvali Prison after Relatives Paid 2000 Russian Rubles

On April 23, Russian soldiers arrested underage Lasha Tvauri in the pasture fields of Tsitelubanivillage, Gori municipality, when he was pasturing cattle. Tskhinvali court found Tvauri guilty in theillegal crossing of the so-called border; on April 26 he was released in exchange of 2 000 Russian rubles bail.

Lasha Tvauri is underage though Ossetian news agencies report that he was already 18. They claim he was born in 1998 though do not indicate the birth month.

For the past one month it was 14 th detention fact of Georgian citizen for illegal crossing of the so- called border. 12 of the detainees were already freed from Tskhinvali prison after the relatives paid the bail for them. At this moment, two more citizens of Georgia stay in the prison. Representatives of the Government of Georgia raised the issue of their release during the last meeting in Ergneti in the frame of the Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism.
 

News
