Police Raid Resulted into an Incident in Gori

On June 17, during night hours, an incident happened during the so-called police raid in Muskhelishvili Street in Gori. As locals say, patrol police officers called on the young boys of 14-15, standing in the street, to go home; in case of disobedience they threatened them with detention. The adults did not obey the demands of the officers and they started verbal argument. During the controversy the police officers arrested a 45-years-old man, who lived in the neighborhood.

“Gocha Avlokhashvili went out into the street during the incident and asked police officers why they were arguing with 15-years-old children. In reply to that, the police officers pushed him down to the ground and 6-7 officers started beating him. Then they fettered him and took to the police station,” a resident of Muskhelishvili street said.
  
Press-center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs categorically denied information about abuse of power by police officers with humanrights.ge. According to the MIA, during the police raid Gocha Avlokhashvili verbally insulted the police officers and disobeyed them. As a result of what he was arrested for verbal insult and disobedience to the police under Article 166 and 173 of the Administrative Code of Georgia.
