HRC Lawyers Study the Case Files of the Shovi Natural Disaster

October 26, 2023
Human Rights Center (HRC) defends legal interests of Davit Maisuradze, the victim’s assignee in the case, which refers to the natural disaster in the mountainous resort Shovi, Racha.

In the course of the ongoing investigation, the prosecutor’s office granted the status of victim’s assignee to Davit Maisuradze but refused to hand over the case files.

HRC lawyers, as the defense lawyers of Davit Maisuradze, studied the case files in the administrative building of the Imereti, Racha-Lechkhumi and Lower Svaneti Police Department.

In Racha, the landslide in the resort Shovi killed the wife of Davit Maisuradze – Shorena Bitchashvili-Maisuradze and their children Kote, 24 and Mariam Maisuradze, 20.

Currently, the investigation into the Shovi landslide case is implemented under the Articles 116 and 240 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which refers to the killing by negligence and Breach of safety regulations during mining, construction or other works.
