Prisoner on Hunger Strike Taken to Hospital


Media News. After an 18 day long hunger strike Z. K, Tbilisi #1 Jail prisoner was taken to the prison hospital. He had sewed his mouth with wires

As Media News has been informed by the Public Defender’s Office the state of health of the prisoner, who suffers an inborn heart-disease has worsened.
Z. K. went on hunger strike after the prison administration refused to take him to hospital. His attorney, Gocha Darchia addressed the Ombudsman for help.


Temur Lomsadze, the Interim Public Defender began the mediation process and addressed Ramaz Duladze, the Head of the Medical Department of the Ministry of Justice, whereupon Kenchadze was taken to hospital. Doctors consider K’s condition to be critical.


Zaza Kenchadze has been sentenced to 3 months pre-detention. He is suspected of an carrying out an assassination attempt.
