Military Pensioners Block the Road

Tbilisi, 1/26/05, Media News. Military pensioners blocked Tsotne Dadiani road in Tbilisi demanding pensions for the month of January, but they later opened the road and moved to the Center for Financial and Credit Services.

According to the participants, People’s Bank transferred the money to the Center even though employees of the Service Center categorically deny that the money was transferred.

As Dodo Bochorishvili, representative People’s Bank press service, told Media News the above-mentioned money has already been transferred.

“If they ended the privileges that we had regarding the electricity fees, why don’t they at least give us our pension on time?” – say the protesters.

Veterans demanded urgent distribution of the pensions, threatening to make the protests permanent.
