Zugdidi Utility Services Pays no Attention to People

Merchants in Zugdidi have gathered on the territory of the market to ask the Zugdidi Utility Services to solve the problems they experience during the rainy days. The problem is that the old trees on the territory of the market create a danger to the merchants every day. “The branches of these trees fall all the time and damage the electro-wires. Furthermore, our stalls, which can be crashed by the branches any time, are under these old trees. The Zugdidi Utility Services will pay attention only when something terrible happens and we are found under these immense trees”, says Roza Kukhaleishvili.

According to the merchants, they applied Nugzar Malashkhia, a head of Zugdidi Utility Services for several times, however, without any positive results. “We are trying to overcome the difficulties we experience for two month. As far as they cannot help us we have offered to solve our problems with our own abilities. Though, we were threatened that the trees were historical and in case of our private measures we could be punished”, says Nodar Kvaratskhelia, who cannot hide his irritation and wonders “If they know the old trees are historical why they do not take care of them?”. He also showed us a letter to the Zugdidi Regional Administration signed by 25 merchants.

However, the Zugdidi Regional Administration sent the letter to the City Mayor for the implementation of the requirements pointed in the letter. The letter still remains not responded though seven days passed since.  The merchants have been unsuccessfully trying to meet the representatives of the Zugdidi Utility Services for several days. It should be mentioned that we could not connect the responsible person too. As usual, Malashkhia never answers the calls.
