Baghafsh Is Not Going To Release Detained Georgian Students

March 29, 2007

DE-fact President of Abkhazia, Baghafsh, stated that the Abkhazian Court will try the three Georgian Students who had crossed the border of their ‘country’ illegally in order to ‘provoke the parliamentary elections.’ He said that those students will be severely punished.

“If Georgian side agrees to release Frdion Chakaberia, a governor of the village of Barghebi and Davit Sigua, the chairman of the central election commission of the same village, in exchange of the students, we would accept such an offer by all means,” said Sergei Baghafsh.

The three Georgian young men were detained on March 1 during the incident at the villages of Shamgona and Taligoni. They were blamed for having crossed the border illegally. However, the court hearing has not been conducted yet.
