The trial of Irakli Okruashvili, former Georiguan Minister of Defence, was fixed for February 27. However, it has now been for yet another 30 days. Eka Beselia, Irakli Okruashivli’s attorney confirms the most recently released information.
Beselia told that the French court must now adjdicate the issues of Okruashvili’s extradition to Georgia and decide whether or not it will grant politcal asylum status to him.
The attorney of former Minister of Defence presented the evidence to the French court for the first stage of court proceedings at the beginning of February.
Eka Beselia told news agency Medianews that she brough to Paris the documents, in particular materilas from the Okruashvili’s Georgian criminal case, several definations of Georgian legal standards and video tapes which are claimed to prove that it would be impossible to extrdict Okruashvil back to Georgia under the circumstances.
French court released Okruashvili from custody on January 30 and he is now free on bail in Paris.
