Statement of the Personal Data Protection Inspector about Media Discussion into Zurab Zhvania and Raul Usupov’s Case

Personal Data Protection Inspector responded to direct or indirect discussions about private life and sensitive issues into Zurab Zhvania and Raul Usupov’s case, which was conducted in the TV-program Choice at Rustavi-2 and then aired by various media. 

Personal life is inviolable by the Georgian law and high standard is used in connection with the data of particular categories (like sexual life, health, religion, ethnicity, etc). 

Regardless high public interest into former Prime Minister’s death case, we call on all parties involved in the investigation process to demonstrate more responsibility when publishing details of private life or respect the honor of the both deceased people and their family members when directly or indirectly disseminating sensitive information.
