Regional activists of the United National Movement have been mobilized for the Inauguration of Mikhail Saakashvili. We learnt that president’s regional governors gave instructions to the governors of Municipalities and Administrative Boards. Reservists and participants of the Presidential Patriot Program were warned to take part in the inauguration.

Demonstrators Bound for Tbilisi Detained

Law enforcement did their best to prevent people from Samegrelo traveling to Tbilisi to attend the January 13 protest. Opposition party representatives were arrested to prevent their attendance as well. Nearly ten people were detained for drug analysis or a lack of driving or technical licenses. Cars were taken to the impound lot and nearly 150 activists were forced out of their cars and into nearby forests.

On November 7 he was severely beaten. Neither journalist’s ID helped him to survive. He visited the Human Rights Center to tell his story.
