The Minister of Corrections and Legal Assistance Sozar Subari states that two correctional facility employees have been dismissed. As Subari told reporters after the government session, employee of correctional department Giorgi Kavlashvili and the Batumi prison director were dismissed.

The report presents findings from the trial monitoring of criminal cases. The organization monitored City and Appeal Courts in Tbilisi and Kutaisi.

At the approaching local self-governmental elections, number of candidates for the position of the Gori Mayor is increasing. Georgian Dream’s candidate is Zurab Jirkvelishvili; United National Movemnet nominated Archil Sabiashvili for the position; election bloc Burjanadze – United Opposition nominated lawyer Mamuka Nozadze; Irakli Okruashvili-Georgian Party nominated Kakhaber Ergemlidze and Tamaz Makashvili will join the poll from the Unity Hall.

Ombudsman Believes Amendments to the Law on Public Service Are Unconstitutional

In accordance to the Article 134’4 of the Law on Public Service, after 2014 Local Self-Governmental Elections every public servant will become interim employee at the local self-governmental bodies. Their labor contract will be valid before people selected by competition replace them on the position. The Public Defender of Georgia appealed the amendment at the Constitutional Court.
Young Prisoner Died Because of Inattention

Avtandil Maisuradze would have turned 26 on May 23. He served his imprisonment term in Kutaisi Prison # 14. On March 23 he died after his health conditions got particularly grave.

Judge Arsen Kalatozishvili at the Tbilisi City Court imposed imprisonment on the employees of the Khelvachauri Civil Registration Agency arrested under the charge of professional negligence on April 14. The judge clarified that detainees live close to Turkey and they can easily travel there and disappear.
