South Caucasian Human Rights Defenders in Geneva

On March 9-11 South Caucasian human rights defenders discussed the human rights situation in Caucasian Region in the UN Office in Geneva. The meeting was organized by the South Caucasian Network of Human Rights Defenders and Human Rights House.

Amendments to the Code – Judicial Authority Simplifies Its Procedures

Amendments were introduced to Article 78 of the Civil Procedural Code of Georgia. According to the amendments, if a location of any party is not known or a court summon cannot be delivered, the court is authorized to make a decision to publicly notify the party about the court hearing.

The Studio Monitor has filed a second complaint against the TV-Companies Rustavi 2 and Imedi-TV at the Georgian National Communications Commission (GNCC). The “Monitor” blames the national TV-Companies in breaching the Law of Georgia on Broadcasting for the repeated violation of the estimated time regulations for sponsorship and TV-shopping; the organization requests that the GNCC impose fines on the TV-Companies.

7-member family of Siprashvilis lives in extreme poverty in Anaga village in Sighnaghi district. The children do not have cloth and shoes and cannot go to school because of it. Very often the children are hungry. The house, which Georgian Charity Foundation “Iavnana” assigned to the large family, is in poor conditions.
